Circumstances of Disappearance
Bratcher was last seen in Ocean City, Washington, on June 15, 1974. During the time period in which Jeffrey’s mother was in full custody, she sent Jeffrey and his siblings to visit his father and stepmother. While they were playing near a picnic area inside of Ocean City State Park, Jeffrey vanished without a trace. Their father had taken them to Ocean City, Washington. At 19.00, the six youngsters were informed that their meal was ready to be served. However, when the children returned to the picnic area, Jeffrey informed them that he would return through a different trail and meet them there.
Jeffrey was unable to be found after a 72-hour search. The dogs produced the only piece of evidence in the case when they discovered what appeared to be Jeffrey’s trail leading to the park entrance, but his scent faded at the edge of the pavement, putting the case’s conclusion at risk. Investigators in Washington and Oregon issued an all-points bulletin, stating that the boy had gone missing and was potentially kidnapped, after concluding that he was no longer in the neighborhood. Since then, he has not been seen or heard from again.
